Description & Building Alterations
The building on Lot 23 is a 4-story, 6-bay wide brick building. It was originally two buildings, both constructed in 1867. Until 1866, a 3-story factory existed on the lot. On the 1868 map the building is labeled as a brick four story building with “wood working” written on it. In 1916 the building is listed on insurance maps as a sawmill, likely a support building for the box factory located on the lot directly behind this one at 735-739 East 9th Street.
