407 East 6th Street | Block : 434 | Lot #54
Description & Building Alterations
This four-story with basement tenement constructed in 1846 was originally in the Greek Revival style, later modified to the Italianate style. It is located in the East Village/Lower East Side Historic District. An 1873 alteration application indicates a one-story addition was built at that time.
The present facade features a metal cornice, metal lintels and footed sills, and a historic door reveal and frame. The store on the ground floor is capped with a small roof. More information can be found in the Designation Report, linked in the “Additional Resources” section.
