Description & Building Alterations

This is one of five surviving transitional Greek Revival row houses built together in 1835-36 by hardware merchants Hubbard & Casey. It recalls the days when this portion of Second Avenue was an elite residential thoroughfare.

All have Flemish Bond brickwork, which is evidence of their age. No. 36 has late-19th century Queen Anne-style ornamentation, including the entrance enframement, bracketed cornice with triangular pediment, window lintels and sills.
