Description & Building Alterations

According to the tax records, the rear building dates as early as 1846 and it is seen on the 1853 map. The front building was built as a five story building in 1861.

The front facade features a bracketed iron cornice with frieze, molded window lintels and bracketed sills. The stoop has been removed and entrance moved to basement level. A cornice is visible in the 1940s tax photo (see sidebar) on the storefront level, though it was removed when the stoop and entrance were reconfigured sometime in the middle of the 20th century.
