Description & Building Alterations
This site was formerly occupied by the spectacular Dry Dock Savings Bank building (see New York Real Estate Brochure at sidebar), designed by Leopold Eidlitz in 1875. The building was demolished in 1954 and replaced with a garage/gas station, part of which survives on the corner (now housing a restaurant, the date “1954” is written in the building’s parapet).
The current Bowery Hotel, designed by Matt Markowitz Architect, PC, was built in 2006
