This once five-story tenement building was reduced to two stories, likely in 1950 when the buildings on lots 45 and 46 were incorporated into the same lot. The building has been integrated with its neighbor and shares and entrance. The building retains very little of its original appearance.

What is the Building Blocks Project

The site explores the area generally considered today as the East Village: from a northern border of 14th Street to a southern border of Houston Street, Avenue D in the east to 4th Avenue/the Bowery to the west.
