319 East 10th Street | Block : 404 | Lot #46
Description & Building Alterations
This four-story row house was constructed by builder James C. Whitlock for original owner Runyon W. Martin c. 1847-48. This house was built as one of a pair of row houses at Nos. 317 to 319 East 10th Street.
Originally designed in the Greek Revival style, it received Queen Anne alterations in the later 19th century. The lintels, sill and cornice were replaced with Queen Anne details, which commonly occurred with Greek Revival row houses of this time. It consists of a historic cast-iron stoop railing, elaborate entrance enframement, and bracketed galvanized-iron window lintels and sills with foliate ornament. The modillions have been removed from the historic cornice.
