This five-story with basement brick building was originally erected in 1853 but was extensively altered (or) rebuilt in 1890 by architects Shneider & Herter as a dumbbell shaped, old-law tenement.
The present facade features elaborate projecting cornice with broken pediment at center, molded window lintels with hoods, some continuous at center bays with pediments, footed sills, and decorated panels between the third and fourth stories. There is a molded cornice above the first floor. The historical entrance surrounds have been stripped. New window openings were cut at basement in 1939.
