Description & Building Alterations

Originally erected in 1852-53, this five-story brick tenement at 278 East 10th Street is used as an apartment building. Record of an alteration from 1956 reveals the erection of a new front exterior.

The present facade mostly dates from the 1956 alteration, featuring brickwork at the parapet, simple rectangular sills, and splayed lintel with a keystone capping the entrance.
