Description & Building Alterations

This altered rowhouse was likely constructed as a single-family dwelling, though for most of its existence it has served as a multi-family building. The original date of construction is 1843, but the facade has undergone many changes over the course of the 20th century and original features do not appear to remain. The building’s entrance would have been on the parlor floor (now bricked over) and accessed by a stoop, similar to its altered neighbor at no. 275.

* The handwritten name in the original tax record is difficult to read; this is our best guess.
