263 East 7th Street | Block : 377 | Lot #56-57
Description & Building Alterations
This three-story brick Greek Revival row house features was constructed in 1843 for owner James R. Sparrow. It features Italianate flourishes in the form of of an outsize bracketed, paneled, and denticulated doorway entablature with a prominent cornice with dentils and a rondel frieze. The windows feature cap-molded lintels, footed sills, and six-over-six windows. Department of Buildings records indicate that an application was filed to demolish the building in 1944 to make way for a vacant lot, but this never happened. It is likely that a sliver of brick at the left of no. 263 belonged to a sister row house at no. 261.
