Description & Building Alterations
Built in 1865, this Italianate row house was designed as a single family home. The house still has its original cornice, raised-stoop, and detailed Italianate-style brownstone surround. The facade is red brick, and the cornice, sills, and Greek Revival-style lintels are white. The brownstone lintels have been wrapped in metal, but their basic design and size are still visible. The nine-over-nine windows on the parlor floor go down to the base of that floor, an Italianate detail. Foliated brackets, a deep rounded pediment, and a recessed doorway with a double door decorate the entryway. As the neighborhood changed, so did the use of the building. By 1904 the building housed one family with multiple furnished rooms for rent. It was converted into two apartments in the 1960s and as of June 2020 it is a two-unit residence.
