238 East 2nd Street | Block : 385 | Lot #51
Description & Building Alterations
Tax lot 51 is a green space known as Peachtree Garden, and is owned by New York City Parks and Recreation. The park is fifty feet wide and was once two separate tax lots.
Tenement buildings were constructed on these lots in 1899 by architect Michael Bernstein for Mr. Goodman. Both buildings were six stories in height and housed 22 families and two stores each. It is unclear when these buildings were demolished, but the lots were already vacant by the 1980s, according to tax photos.
