Description & Building Alterations

This building was originally erected in 1853. At some point in the following decades, the building became a tenement, similar to its neighbor at 220 First Avenue. A large cornice was probably added at that time, as evidenced by the 1940s tax photo, and has since been removed and replaced by a brick parapet. The outer window openings on the present-day facade have been shortened and all original window lintels and sills have been removed.
