This building likely dates to the mid-19th century, perhaps around 1850, the year the neighboring building at 218 Avenue A was constructed. In 1906 an outhouse was erected. The historic facade – complete with cornice, fire escape, and window lintels – had been completely refaced by the time the 1980s tax photo was taken.
