Description & Building Alterations

According to tax records, 21 and 23 Avenue B were built together in 1852 as four-story residences and stores. Lot 2 was once comprised of Lots 2 and 3, but they are now considered as one. In 1929, an application to remove the present cornices and replace them with brick cornices was proposed, but early in 1930, the plans were changed and the original cornices survive today. Besides the cornices, little remains of the original front facades seen in the 1980’s tax photo.
