192 East 3rd Street | Block : 398 | Lot #26
Description & Building Alterations
In 1895, this Neo-Grec old law tenement was built as one of three similar buildings in a row. Now the only one of the three still standing, 192 East 3rd Street features incised lintels, terra cotta beltcourses, and a cornice with oversized brackets – all typical of the Neo-Grec style. The building originally housed 18 families over shops with a raised stoop entrance. In 1937 the shops were removed and the stoop may have been lost at this same time.
Block : 398 / Lot : 26 / Building Date : 1895 / Original Owner : John C. O’Connor / Original Use : Residential/Commercial / Original Architect : Julius Boekell & Son
