168 Avenue B | Block : 404 | Lot #31
Description & Building Alterations
This five-story brick building was constructed in 1859-1860 for original owner W. S. Wright, who owned many neighboring buildings in the East Village.
The Greek Revival style facade features a cornice topped with a triangular pediment, consisting of a leafy design. The cornice also features modillions and dentils. The Queen Anne style lintels and sills are constructed using galvanized iron and are likely replacements. This was a common replacement style of the late 19th century.
