Description & Building Alterations

This five-story brick building, with commercial space on the ground floor and residences above, was constructed together with lots 36 and 37 in 1841-43. In 1872, all three buildings were raised from three stories to four stories and the storefront was altered. This building underwent further alterations designed by architect O. Reissman in 1905 and 1910. The fifth story penthouse was added sometime after 1983.

The facade features simple lintels and sills, in addition to a bracketed and modillioned cornice, which seems to be identical to the adjacent buildings’ facades. There is also a trace of the ground floor cornice.
