15 Avenue D | Block : 372 | Lot #38
Description & Building Alterations
The buildings at numbers 15, 17, and 19 Avenue D were all constructed together in 1835. The original Flemish Bond brickwork is evident on Number 15, signaling that all three buildings were constructed as Federal style row houses. In 1881, the wooden cornice was changed to galvanized iron, which still exists today. Just below the cornice the brick pattern changes to regular running bond instead of Flemish, probably an alteration made with the change of the cornice. In the 20’s and 30’s the ground floor was used as an auto repair shop and tire store.
