15 Avenue B; 207-209 East 2nd Street | Block : 384 | Lot #9
Description & Building Alterations
A seven-story building was erected here in 1909, by architect Samuel Sass, to be constructed of brick for the purpose of retail and light factory uses.
Over the years, the space has been occupied by stores, a restaurant, a dance hall, and manufacturing lofts. The c. 1940 tax photo shows that a number of details have been lost since that time, including ornamentation around the second-story windows and Italianate cornices on the sixth and seventh stories. In 2008, the current owner converted the entire building to residential use, with a lobby on the first floor and a single unit on each of the upper stories.
For organizational consistency, the old lot number has been retained on this page, but please note the lot has since been re-numbered 7504.
