Description & Building Alterations
This Queen Anne style five-story and basement brick tenement was owned and constructed by Jobst Hoffman in 1883.
Two stores are found at the basement level on either side of the elevated central entrance. The bottom half of the first story is clad in stone surrounding the entrance which features engaged pilasters supporting an entablature with carved brackets. A simple fire escape crawls down the slightly recessed two center window bays to the second floor above the entrance. The bracketed metal cornice features a decorated frieze with swags and circular elements at the top. The facade also features stone belt courses and window lintels, window lintels with small pediments at the second and fourth stories and colorful tile insets below windows at the fourth story.
