28-30 Second Avenue | Block : 443 | Lot #5
Description & Building Alterations
This nine-story, 100′ storage building was designed in the typical 1920s commercial style, and it features characteristic decoration and materials of this style on the facade, such as the vertical cement stripes, the roof line, and the arched garage entrance framed by recessed cement. It appears that the original cornice has been removed (see 1980s tax photo at sidebar).
The NB Application detailed occupancy as a household goods storage warehouse for the public storage of furniture, pianos, rugs, and trunks, etc. In the 1930s, the building was called the Knickerbocker Warehouse. The building continues to operate as a storage facility.
