Description & Building Alterations

An early building on this site was demolished in 1939 and replaced with a one-story commercial building. This building housed a bakery in 1948 (NB17-48). In the 1960s the one-story building was joined with the neighboring tenement buildings at 175 -179 East 2nd Street. These combined structures were used as a meat processing and storage facility with the upper stories of the former tenements left vacant. In 1999, the one-story building was converted to a laundry facility.

What is the Building Blocks Project
