Description & Building Alterations

Originally, 215 East 3^rd Street was a four-story building similar to its neighbor at 217 East 3^rd Street with a rear building. Both the front and rear buildings at No. 215 were built in 1849. In 1905, a permit was filed to build a structure between the front and rear buildings, but maps show that this work was never executed.

In 2001, a permit was filed to add two stories to the building and the structural addition was approved in 2009. Today, a plain stone belt course at the fifth floor shows the former height of the building. All original building details have been removed or covered with brick and stucco.
