348 East 9th Street | Block : 450 | Lot #28
Description & Building Alterations
A three-story house was constructed on this lot between 1844 and 1845. Between 1897 and 1899, the building footprint changed and the number of floors increased from four to six, as seen on historic maps. It is unclear whether the present building was altered based on the earlier structure or erected anew at this time. The facade of no. 348 East 9th Street features a bracketed cornice with a garlanded frieze, decorated window enframements, splayed lintels, keystones, decorative panels, beltcourses, and a molded cornice above the first story. The round-arched main entryway is enclosed in a portico supported by Corinthian columns with foliate details.
