According to tax assessment records, this old-law neo-Grec tenement was constructed in 1887 for owner J. D. Karst and designed by architect Alexander I. Finkle.

The storefront has been altered and some historic elements of the south facade have been replaced. Its features include a detailed entrance enframement, door hood supported by brackets, and bracketed cornice.
