Description & Building Alterations

This was originally a 3 1/2 story Greek Revival-style row house, built as part of the Albion Place development. In 1873 the house was raised from three to four stories under the architect William Winckel.

The Metropolitan Assembly Room was located here in the 1870s and 1880s. In 1900, when this building was being used as Labor Lyceum Hall, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union was founded here.
