Description & Building Alterations

While no building permit was able to be located for this six story building, the Department of Buildings’ records show a demolition permit issued in 1938 and a New Building permit for a one-story building in 1952. A 1930 map of the block shows a probable mid-19th century row house occupying the space. The outline of such a structure is visible in the 1940s tax photo of an adjacent lot, indicating that the building was demolished some time between 1930 and time the photo was taken. The building that currently occupies the lot was constructed in 2004 when the site was cited for a site safety violation. The building is postmodern in design, being contextual in its scale and incorporating some keystones and lintels reminiscent of historic ornament.
