Description & Building Alterations
This three-story firehouse was built in 1879 and designed by Napoleon LeBrun as Engine House No. 28. The building utilizes a simple Neo-classical cornice and sandstone trim to ornament the facade. It has projections at the ends, acting like pilasters joining the ornamentation for the ground floor up to the brackets on the cornice. The ground floor still retains it original configuration, however part of the large center door has been infilled with glass block.
