Description & Building Alterations

This large, six-story new law tenement was built in 1903. The Renaissance Revival style is representative of Bernstein & Bernstein’s other tenement designs and utilizes many of the same terra cotta ornamental pieces. The building has ten window bays on the 13th Street facade and eight on the Avenue B side. The rightmost bay on the Avenue B facade is a blind window consisting of a brick wall with the ornamentation of a window. Some of the window surrounds feature elaborate terra cotta brackets as well as triangular and segmental pediments. There are also decorative terra cotta lintels and spandrel panels. Some of the brackets and detailing are missing from the cornice.
