535 East 6th Street | Block : 402 | Lot #48
Description & Building Alterations
This building was developed during the same period as most of the surrounding buildings, sometime around 1862-1863 according to tax assessment records. There is a different type of brick and pointing above all the lintels on the upper stories. This indicates that the original lintels were replaced, likely with a steel beam and infilled with brick. The building is five stories tall with four windows across each floor. The ground floor is painted green and has two doorways and several glass-block windows. The cornice is missing, but the brick corbelling that would have been below the cornice still remains.
