Description & Building Alterations

No. 43 Second Avenue was built in 1907 for owners Minsky & Engel and designed by architect Frederick Ebeling.

The building is an example of an intact early 20th century brick & stone loft structure, with strip windows, iron balconette, bracketed cornice, corbelled brick and metal I-beam spandrels. It has housed stores and offices, and a factory. The storefront has been replaced and the cornice is historic.

In 1979, the Provenzano Lanza Funeral Home, owned by the same family as the one that owned Lanza’s Restaurant at 168 First Avenue, was located at this address.
