Description & Building Alterations

This 1902 new law tenement building was designed by George Fredrick Pelham & Polstein Brothers and owned by the Polstein Brothers. It is six stories in height, six bays wide at the upper floors, and five bays wide at the first floor. It is clad in red brick with a rusticated stone clad first floor. The stoop and the entry surround – which includes engaged columns supporting a portico – are intact. Stone ornament in a classical vocabulary is seen throughout the building including at the lintels, window surrounds, quoins, and belt and string courses. The original intact cornice features modillions and dentil molding.
