253 East 10th Street | Block : 438 | Lot #51
Description & Building Alterations
This five-story with basement tenement was erected in 1888, probably replacing a three-story house originally on site.
The present facade features terra-cotta decoration, including beltcourses, tympanums, and panels, molded lintels with hoods, segmental arch windows with spandrels and brick piers at fifth story, and a bracketed roof cornice with a very elaborate pediment. The recessed entrance on first floor is enframed by decorated stone pilasters supporting a round arch with keystone.
