244 East Houston Street | Block : 397 | Lot #65
Description & Building Alterations
This was originally built as an Old Law tenement as one of five. The c. 1940 tax photo of a neighboring building shows that No. 244 still had its original facade and details at that time, including the cornice, lintels, sills, and storefront. A sign over the store read, “Lumber-Millework”. At some point after, most likely post 1955, the building was significantly altered.
