According to New York CityMap, the building at 235 East 2^nd Street was constructed in 2003. It is a five-story residential walk-up with five units. The façade is brick with simple modern windows, and semi-circular details are present at the first story and roofline. Balconies on the rear of the building look over Houston Street.

The pre-existing building was likely the sister building of the neighboring 237 East 2nd Street and the now demolished 233 East 2nd Street. This would mean that no. 235 was probably constructed in 1864 as a five-story building. The 1980s tax photo shows that the building had been demolished by that time.
