191-193 East 3rd Street | Block : 399 | Lot #41
Description & Building Alterations
Designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect Edward A. Meyers, No. 191 was built in 1907 and originally housed 34 families with shops on the ground floor and a bakery in the basement. The building still retains its terra cotta splayed lintels with scrolled keystones and simple beltcourses. The upper floor and original cornice were badly damaged in a fire in the late 1970s. The resulting repairs removed the metal cornice and rebuilt the parapet wall with new bricks.
