Description & Building Alterations

156 East 2nd Street was designed by George Frederick Pelham as an old law tenement in the Queen Anne style. Housing 27 families and three stores, the building is maintains numerous terra cotta details including “grotesques,” or faces as keystones, in the arched windows on the third floor, as well as ornamented spandrel panels on alternating levels. The building entrance would have once had a raised stoop with the shops slightly below grade.
