128 East 7th Street | Block : 434 | Lot #7502
Description & Building Alterations
This seven-story brick building was constructed in 1906. A 1968 permit application (architect Donald. D Fisher) indicates that the first story of the building was to be used as a restaurant, with cabaret and a warehouse. The lot was once part of William B. Astor’s holdings and was leased out in the 1860’s.
The present facade features keystones on the lintels of the fourth and fifth story windows, the projecting brick pilasters on the edges of the building and the stone dentils seen under the new window of the seventh-story. Other historic details like the frieze of the cornice at the roof line and above the second-story have been stripped. The storefront and seventh-story windows have been modified.
This was formerly Lot 27.
