Description & Building Alterations

In the 1853 map, there were two row houses on this lot with stores on their ground floors. A 1924 alteration application for no. 116 shows that the building had three stories (at the time, it served as a storage unit, a store, and office space and was owned by the estate of Rutherfurd Stuyvesant). In 1964, an application was approved to remove the third floor from both no. 114 and no. 16 and combine the two buildings. The resulting two-story structure was utilized as storage space, a church mission, a Sunday school, and a minister’s residence.
