Description & Building Alterations

Lot 40 is occupied by a five-story residential and commercial brick building. It has minimal décor except for the corbelled cornice and the classically styled lintels. Before this building was erected, there was a stable in its place which was part of two rows on either side of Lafayette Place. The first 1940s tax photo link below erroneously mislabeled adjacent lot 37 (center building) as lot 40.

What is the Building Blocks Project
