This twelve-story Art Deco apartment building was built in 1928 and is named Ageloff Tower, after its original owner, Samuel Ageloff. Ageloff was a prominent developer in New York City for several decades who hoped to attract Wall Street workers with his “modern apartments.” This block (Lots 14-43) was once part of William B. Astor’s holdings and was leased out to various people between 1850 and 1878.
