Lot 16 is used as a community garden space owned by the same group that owns Tompkins Square Plaza to the immediate west, at 190 East 7th Street.
A three-story brick building occupied this lot until 1967, when it was demolished. The building was occupied by the “Kishnever Sick Benevolent Society of New York,” according to an alteration application for the building that dates to 1920. The demolition application classifies the building as a tenement with six apartments.
