Description & Building Alterations

A three-story Greek-Revival building originally occupied this site. It was demolished in 1938. The current building is a post-modern apartment building with an oculus window above the door and several decorative stone beltcourses. The building is five stories tall and received its certificate of occupancy in 2002.

What is the Building Blocks Project

The site explores the area generally considered today as the East Village: from a northern border of 14th Street to a southern border of Houston Street, Avenue D in the east to 4th Avenue/the Bowery to the west.
